Why? To What?

Realized the hebrew word for "why" למה which really is le-mah "to what" . Or "to what purpose" i.e. why.

Only thing is though there should then be only a sh'va under the Lamed instead of a kamatz. A kamatz I think (although the grammarians would know better) takes the place of a hei heyedia in which case the translation would be "to The What"... interesting... needs more iyun....
