"But I can say that even at the dearth of — even at the nadir of the valley of death, we never lost hope and we never lost our dream of re-establishing a sovereign state in our ancient homeland, the land of Israel. And now it falls on my shoulders as the prime minister of Israel at a time of extraordinary instability and uncertainty in the Middle East to work with you to fashion a peace that will ensure Israel’s security and will not jeopardize its survival.
I take this responsibility with pride but with great humility, because, as I told you in our conversation, we don’t have a lot of margin for error and because, Mr. President, history will not give the Jewish people another chance."
Am I the only one who thinks Prime Minister Netanyahu talked like an אפיקורוס and was מחלל שם שמים with those last words- "history will not give the Jewish people another chance". It runs against everything we believe in from the Torah and the basic faith of our אני מאמין. Our forefathers have lived and died by the belief that history ultimately will give ישראל a home-- GIVEN! That ultimately the world will work out--GIVEN! That no matter what human attempts are made whether to destroy or even save the Jewish people, existence DEMANDS that ישראל will remain regardless (בשביל ישראל שנקראו ראשית and Mordechai's telling Esther כי אם-החרש תחרישי, בעת הזאת--רוח והצלה יעמוד ליהודים ממקום אחר, ואת ובית-אביך תאבדו; ומי יודע--אם-לעת כזאת, הגעת למלכות) and then you go and say "history will not give the Jewish People another chance"?!! I'm very disturbed by a leader who thinks it falls upon his shoulders the success of Creation.... בהדי כבשי דרחמנא למה לך. מאי דמפקדת איבעי לך למעבד ומאי דניחא קמי קודשא בריך הוא ליעביד... very disturbing....
