Stuck me as incredibly peculiar:
A Torah system that places so much meaning and importance on the Right Side having a Right-to-Left direction of writing -- counterintuitive both practically and symbolically.
Practically, because it's more cumbersome on the righthanded writer to write while not smudging what he's already written. Symbolically, in that you're progressing "leftward"... granted the latter may not be much of an objection...
Would be fascinating to know if it relates in anyway to the Binyamin-Lefty relationship
